Just now, I overheard:
"Eli! I have to clean up this water." She sounded irritated.
I didn't hear Eli's reply.
"Well, you'll be f - i - r - e - d, fired." How did she learn how to spell 'fired'?? I'm beginning to think she already knows how to read & she's just humoring me with the phonics book.
"I not be fired!!" He was adamant. I'm sure he has no idea what it means.
"Well, you will be if you don't help me clean this up."
"Otay."

- A lot about me is defined right now by relationships. My husband is studying at Sewanee to be an Episcopal priest. I have a love-hate relationship with Sewanee, TN. It’s mostly love. Except when it’s not. My children were born in 2004 and 2007 (5 & 2 as I write this). We have a cat, Mogley, a dog, Gabby, and a puppy, Daisy. I made up a rhyme for Daisy that sums up a lot of my relationship with her: "Daisy-Baisy, puddin' and pie, peed on my floor and made me cry." Now, it's "peed in her crate," but you get the idea. I love just about anything that could be described as artistic or creative, and I flit from one form to another. I have a lot of stuff, and I seem to use it all in 2- or 3-year rotations. Right now, I’m writing, and I feel a sewing spurt ripening as well. I frequently rearrange the furniture. I grew up in upstate NY – Ticonderoga and Crown Point, to be specific. My husband grew up on Long Island. We’ve been together for 14 years, married for 7. His family is Jewish, and you’ll find Yiddish sprinkled moderately throughout my posts. I love Yiddish. Almost as much as I love French.
